Lumbar fusion may be ideal for patients who:
During lumbar fusion, the damaged intervertebral disc is removed, and a bone graft or implant is placed between the vertebrae to facilitate fusion. Titanium plates, rods, or screws may be used to secure the vertebrae and promote stability. Over time, the bones fuse together into a solid unit, preventing further movement and pain.
Minimally invasive techniques are often used to reduce recovery time, decrease post-operative pain, and minimize tissue damage.
“Lumbar fusion is a highly effective solution for chronic lower back pain and spinal instability, helping patients regain mobility and quality of life.” – Dr. Jason Billinghurst
